We’ve all heard the old cliché, “laughter is the best medicine”, but did you know it can save a life?
I discovered it can. The hard way.
To set the stage for this tale, I have two words for you. Nun farts.
No, this blog is not degenerating into potty humor or disrespecting ladies who have devoted their lives to serving God and mankind. This is the actual name of a pastry. Or rather, its translation. And that little tidbit was responsible for getting me the medical attention I needed during a life-threatening emergency.
Often, when I’ve become bogged down in the details of the everyday, God uses the oddest happenings to remind me what’s really important. Today, He spoke through a crow — No, not literally! The video of that bird reminded me of a basic truth:
“A happy heart is like good medicine,
but a broken spirit drains your strength.” Proverbs 17:22 (NIV)
It isn’t often I find myself truly laughing out loud at something I see on TV. I did today.
Readers of my novel witness many of the story’s events through the eyes of a raven. He, however, would positively turn up his beak in disdain at this crow’s antics. I don’t think you will. Continue reading →
