A little tribute to all things American…the 4th of July, our military, baseball, and rock-n-roll. 🙂
On a more serious side of this special holiday, Thank You to the men and women in our military, and their families, who sacrifice daily so we can continue to have an Independence Day to celebrate.
The Scribes wish you and your families a happy and safe 4th!
Star-Spangled Banner by Francis Scott Key, 1814
Recording Artist: James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett, Metallica
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
My inspiration: I chose the Star-Spangeled Banner for today’s playlist, and decided to take a moment to look at the original lyrics of the song. Often, we only sing the first verse. The last verse of this song seems to sum up what our founding fathers fought for, and what we should still be fighting and standing for today…a country blessed with victory and peace, who stands for justice, and puts its trust in God, so we may continue to be the land of the free and the home of the brave.
