Scribe’s Playlist — Jesus, King of Angels

Posted by Bridgett.

Scribe's PlaylistMy nephew, whom I mentioned in Tuesday’s post, spent many nights during his early years afraid to be awakened by nightmares. I was babysitting him one weekend, tucking him into bed, when he said, “I’m not afraid anymore, Auntie. Jesus is more powerful than bad dreams.” Since that night, and to this day, his prayers have always included a request for Jesus to send His angels to watch over him and keep bad dreams away as he sleeps.

While listening to the radio a few weeks ago, I was stunned at how closely the first verse of a song mirrored my nephew’s prayer. With that in mind, I invite you to share my headphones for a moment and enjoy…

Jesus, King of Angels

Recording Artist: Fernando Ortega

Key Lyrics:

Jesus, King of Angels, Heaven’s light,

Shine Your face upon this house tonight.

Let no evil come into my dreams,

Light of Heaven, keep me in your peace.

My inspiration: My nephew’s heart for God and the wisdom in his simple words continue to astound me. Whether in his prayers, in an unexpectedly mature question he asks, or even as he acts out the lines of a character at play, he demonstrates knowledge and understanding that he could only learn from his Heavenly Father. For this and other reasons, he and his sister are the inspirations for my character Jarad, a pre-teen boy who comes of age during my fantasy series. Jarad’s absolute trust in the King of All Lands enables him to perform incredible feats in battle, despite lacking formal training, and insures he always hits his target.

Your turn to Shed Your Light…

Have the words of a child’s prayer ever touched your heart or amazed you?

What were those words (as close as you remember)?
