Scribe’s Playlist — The Light in Me

The Scribe’s Playlist is a series of posts in tribute to those minstrels whose music not only sparked ideas, mirrored characters and set the mood for certain scenes in my novel, but also kept me motivated to finish it. I invite you to share my headphones for a moment and enjoy…

The Light In Me

Recording artist: Brandon Heath

Key Line: On this week’s topic, reflection:

‘Cause in your perfection, I’m just a reflection. So pull me closer to you…

My Inspiration: This song speaks to the overwhelming struggle the main character in my novel faces, feeling as if her purpose, her light, is being extinguished. The reminder of who her light source is and that His flame is eternal, unquenchable, rekindles the fire of determination and the light of life in the midst of the greatest darkness she’s even known. It’s all about choice. Will we thrust up our hands to hold God’s Light aloft — even, and especially, when the shadows pull heavily at every part of our body and spirit?

How does this song speak to you?
